About Afrocentric Kitty
About the Founders
The idea of Afrocentric Kitty was conceived in 2023, not long after Dominique Tate-Williams and her husband, Carlos Williams, adopted their two cats, Cali and Ozone. When looking for typical pet supplies, they found that oftentimes the selection was all very similar - lots of bones and paw prints(!) or just didn't reflect their cultural tastes and sensibilities as Black pet parents. As Dominique searched for soft cones for the kittens to wear post-surgery, she was disappointed to see the most exciting option that she could find was Avocado and Toast. While Dominique loves both avocados and toast, she thought the soft cones were cute, but didn't really speak to her as a Black pet parent. That's when Afrocentric Kitty was born - pet products, but with EXTRA FLAVOR!

When I Fell in Love
Dominique fell in love with "Tom" (Ozone) in the manner many people do these days - online, and was acting a bit thirsty as she came to terms with the idea of getting a cat. She realized she was sprung when she began texting her friend to ask for pictures of him.
Gotcha Day
On the way to pick up "Tom" (Ozone), Carlos said wistfully, "I sure wish we could get two!"
Dominique replied, "You taking me too fast now!"
They left with two cats.

Sister Cali
Cali is spicy, independent and VERY VOCAL about what she wants.
Brother Ozone
Ozone is indeed a handsome fella that gets by on his looks and laid back personality. He will push Cali (and his other siblings, when they were on the teet) aside to get to the food.
